At 19:00 on 13 August, in commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the end of World War Ⅱ, the memorial service will be held at the Great Buddha Hall

Every year on 13 August, Tōdai-ji Temple holds the memorial service to pray for the repose of the spirits of those who have lost their lives in natural disasters, unexpected accidents, and wars around the world. This year marks the 80th anniversary of the end of World War Ⅱ. Unfortunately, currently wars continue to rage in various areas and countries in the world, claiming many precious lives. Additionally, due to climate change, natural disasters are taking many lives not only in Japan but around the world. In commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the end of World War Ⅱ, at 19:00 on 13 August, the memorial service will be held at the Great Buddha Hall to console the spirits of those who lost their lives in the war and natural disasters in the all over the world. At the same time, Shinto ritual will be held at Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine in Kamakura.
